This disclosure relates to a cutting assembly for mining or extraction. The cutting assembly comprises a circular disk cutter (). Cutting elements are arranged around a circumferential surface of the disk cutter, each seated in a tool holder (). The orientation of the seat is such that the cutting element () points tangentially in or towards the intended direction of rotation.
