Wastewater management system for vehicles and related methods

Abstract

A wastewater management systemincludes a black water tankfor holding black wastewater and a grey water tankfor holding grey wastewater. The systemmay additionally include a filterfor filtering suspended solids from the grey water; a first conduitbetween the grey water tankand the filter; a second conduitbetween the filterand a toilet, and a third conduitbetween the filterand the black water tank, the third conduitassociated with a valve; and a fourth conduitbetween the filterand the grey water tank, the fourth conduitassociated with the valve. The systemfurther includes a control sub-systemin communication with the valvesfor controlling valvesto deliver filtered grey water to the toiletfor flush and to periodically clean the filterof captured solids and deliver the captured solids to the black water tank. A related method for managing wastewater within a recreational vehicles with the wastewater management system, an apparatus for delivering wastewater from a recreational vehicles to a drain and an additive sub-systemfor wastewater management system of a vehicle are also provided. Further, the present teachings relate to a systemincluding a housing associated with a toilet, the housing including a valve and a macerator pumping arrangementincluding a maceratorand a pumpthat work independently from one another, the maceratorincluding a plurality of macerating knivesdriven by a first motor, the pumpproviding positive pressure, the macerator pumping arrangementis operative in a macerating mode and a pumping mode, such that the first motorfirst drives the macerating knivesto macerate the waste and subsequently, the pumppumps the waste out of the housing
