Abstract
A method and apparatus for distributing publish-subscribe messages to clients over a network using a message broker. A first client is configured to send a message to the message broker to declare a second client as its successor. The message broker is configured to, when the first client disconnects from the message broker, route to the second client one or more messages that are indicated for delivery to the first client. The second client may then receive and process these messages in place of the first client.
