A piston for a magneto-rheological (MR) damper includes an upper corehaving a side opening; a lower corehaving a lower core bodyand a central protrusionprotruding upwardly from the lower core body; and a magnetic field generatorcoupled to the central protrusion, including a bodyA around which a coilis wound, a ring-shaped upper supportB extending from the upper portion of the bodyA in the radial direction, and a ring-shaped lower supportC extending from the lower portion of the bodyA in the radial direction.
