A mechanical seal which can provide stable sealing performance over a long period of time. A rotating ring unitincludes an annular elastic sealhaving a first annular partto which a rotating ringis fitted and thus fixed on an inner circumferential surface side thereof, a second annular partprovided in close contact with an outer circumferential surface of a rotating shaft, and a curved partwhich connects the first and second annular partsandand follows a positional change of the second annular partwith respect to the first annular part, an annular tightening memberwhich tightens an outer circumferential surface of the second annular parton the rotating shaft, and a metal caseincluding an annular fitting partto which the first annular partis fitted and thus fixed on the inner circumferential surface side thereof.
