Abstract
The invention relates to a method for communicating from a plurality of gateways () to a satellite () over a set of uplink channels () and then towards Earth () in a plurality of beams (). In that context, inter-beam interference mitigation precoding (s) of signals intended to non-space-based receiver locations () is performed. At each gateway (), precoding weightings are generated (s) and uplink signals are transmitted (s) to the satellite () in each of the uplink channels (). At the satellite (), the uplink signals are received (s) from the gateways () over the uplink channels (), and, for each uplink signal, a downlink signal (s) is derived before transmitting (s) the downlink signals towards Earth (). In addition, constraints are defined to allow an effective inter-beam mitigation precoding processing. In other words, the method aims at providing system-wide precoding when more than one gateway is used. The invention also relates to a satellite (), a system (), and the use of the satellite ().
