Abstract

This disclosure combines the Attach and Tracking Area Update procedures into one new mobility procedure: the Registration procedure performed by a signal handling function SHF. One advantage of the proposed Registration procedure is that, if the new SHF is unable to obtain UE data from the old SHF the new SHF will nevertheless register the UE so that the UE does not have to perform another registration procedure (e.g., an Attach procedure).
