A braking system () for an aircraft wheel () comprises first and second brake rotor discs () axially spaced along an axis (A) and rotationally coupled to the wheel (), a stator disc () arranged axially between the first and second rotor discs (), and a heat shield () mounted to at least one of the first and second rotor discs (). Radially outer portions () of the first and second rotor discs () extend radially outwardly of the stator disc () to define a gap () between the radially outer portions () of the first and second rotor discs (). The heat shield () extends at least partially over or into the gap ().
