Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a rotor () for an electric machine (). The rotor () includes a plurality of magnet poles (--) each comprising one or more permanent magnets (-). The magnet poles (--) are angularly separated from each other and an inter-pole region (--) is formed between adjacent magnet poles (--). At least one external flux barrier (--) is disposed in each said inter-pole region (--), the at least one external flux barrier (--) comprising an external aperture.
