Provided are: a motor for which high strength can be obtained in a motor casing; and a compressor that uses the motor. This motorhas: a rotating shaftprovided in a rotatable manner; a rotorthat rotates integrally with the rotating shaft; a statorthat rotationally drives the rotor; and a motor casingthat is a cylindrical body for accommodating the rotorand the stator, and has, on the outer circumferential surface thereof, ribsextending in a circumferential direction.
