Abstract
Sealed container () houses electric unit () equipped with stator () and a rotor (), and compression unit () disposed above electric unit (). Compression unit () includes shaft () that includes main shaft portion () and eccentric shaft portion (), and cylinder block (). Compression unit () further includes connection portion () that connects piston () reciprocatively inserted into cylinder () and eccentric shaft portion (), and a thrust bearing that supports a load of shaft () in a vertical direction. The thrust bearing includes an upper race in contact with a flange portion of shaft (), a lower race in contact with a thrust surface of cylinder block (), and a rolling element. An overall height of sealed container () is sized not to exceed a length six times larger than a diameter of piston ().
