Abstract

A drive belt monitoring system for a passenger conveyor () is provided having a drive belt () having at least one cord () extending longitudinally within the drive belt (). The monitoring system () includes: a first sensor () configured to measure the pretension of the drive belt (); a second sensor () configured to determine a passenger load on the drive belt (); a third sensor () configured to determine the resonance frequency of the drive belt (); and a controller () configured to evaluate a condition of the drive belt () based on: the measured pretension of the drive belt (), the determined passenger load of the drive belt (), and the determined resonance frequency of the drive belt ().
