Abstract
A frontal airbag unit adapted for being mounted above the person to be protected is described. It comprises an inflator () and an airbag consisting of a first outer skin () enclosing a filling and support chamber () and a second outer skin () enclosing a protection chamber (). In order simplify the production process and in order to provide a good support for the deployed second outer skin () the first outer skin () is comprised of a first layer () and a second layer () being connected to one another by means of a first peripheral connection such that the filling and support chamber () is relatively flat.
