Abstract
Disclosed herein is a medium conveying apparatus in which unjamming can be efficiently performed. The medium conveying apparatus includes conveyance rollers configured to convey a card, a rotary unit configured to hold and rotate the card, sensors SNand SNconfigured to detect the distance the card has been conveyed, and a control section. If the distance the card has been conveyed that has been detected by the sensors SNand SNdiffers from a preset distance L(Yes in Step S), the control section determines (in Sand S) whether the card can be positioned in a direction to be delivered from the rotary unit. If the card can be so positioned, a drive motor is controlled, rotating the rotary unit to position the card to be delivered.
