Abstract

The present invention relates to a tourniquet () comprising: • a support () for surrounding a first portion of a limb, • an elastic sleeve () to be held in a stretched position around the support (), the support () preventing contraction of the elastic sleeve (), • a grip element () which is movable relative to the support (), • a drive element () for driving the elastic sleeve (), when the grip element () is moved manually relative to the support (), from its stretched position around the support to a blood vessel constricting position wherein the elastic sleeve () surrounds a second portion of the limb, adjacent to the first portion of the limb but not surrounded by the support (), in such a way that the elastic sleeve () can contract by resilient return, and thus compress the second portion of the limb.
