Abstract

An apparatus for gripping a portable electronic device can be used with a wireless charger to charge the portable electronic device when the device and the wireless charger are not in direct contact. The apparatus has a base element adapted to be attached to the electronic device and a gripping element connected to the base element, and further includes a first electrical induction coil arranged within the gripping element and configured to generate an electrical current as a result of a magnetic field in the wireless charger, as well as a second electrical induction coil arranged within the base element and configured to generate a magnetic field so as to induce an electrical current inside the portable electronic device, wherein the first electrical induction coil is configured to conduct electricity to the second electrical induction coil, either through induction or through direct conduction.
