Abstract

Disclosed are various embodiments for determining whether food in a refrigerator has spoiled. In one embodiment, a refrigerator includes a compartment that has an interior space configured to contain a food item. A chemical sensor can be mounted within an interior of the refrigerator. The chemical sensor can be configured to at least measure an amount of a chemical related to spoilage of the food item in the compartment.
