Abstract
A microfluidic device () comprising: a main body; at least one source reservoir and at least one collection reservoir (); at least one fluid channel () for channelling a fluid comprising a compound from the at least one source reservoir () to the at least one collection reservoir (); a plurality of chambers () for holding cells, wherein the plurality of chambers () are formed underneath and open to the fluid channel (), wherein a fluid flow is generated through the at least one fluid channel () by a difference in hydrostatic pressure between fluid in the at least one source reservoir () and fluid the at least one collection reservoir () such that the fluid flow provides a compound concentration gradient across the plurality of chambers () and wherein the at least one collection reservoir () has an overflow opening () to substantially maintain a level of hydrostatic pressure in the at least one collection reservoir ().
