Abstract
In a normal operation of a roll stand (e.g.) of a roll train, working rolls () of the roll stand () are adjusted to a roll gap (s) by adjusting a control element position (p) of a control element () of the roll stand (), such that the working rolls () roll the metal band (). To determine the control element position (p) to be adjusted, a calibration value (sC) of the respective roll stand (), further status parameters (P) of the roll stand () and a target roll gap (s*) are specified to a model () of the roll stand (). The model () determines the control element position (p) to be adjusted therefrom. In the calibration operation, a control element position (p) is initially adjusted such that the metal band () passes through the roll stand () without being rolled. The control element position (p) is varied such that the working rolls () roll the metal band (). A thickness (d) of the metal band () is detected by a downstream thickness-measuring device (). The thickness (d), further status parameters (P) and the control element position (p) are supplied to the model (), which determines the calibration value (sC) of the respective roll stand () therefrom. Subsequently, normal operation is resumed and the previously determined calibration value (sC) is used to determine control element positions (p) to be adjusted as the calibration value (sC) of the respective roll stand ().
