Abstract
To obtain an inorganic blue fluorescent material that is composed of elements for which there are no suspected harmful effects on humans, and that has excellent texture when applied to skin. A fluorescent material for a cosmetic being a composite oxide containing from 0.0005 to 0.05 (in terms of a mole ratio relative to 1 mol of phosphorous in a molecule) of Ce in a compound represented by general formula CaPO(3.2≤a≤5.0, b=2, c=a+5) and having an average particle diameter of from 1 to 10 μm.
