Abstract

The embodiments of the present application provide a method and an apparatus for releasing a video file, which are applied to a server. The method comprises obtaining a video file to be released; selecting a first preset number of video frames in the video file to be released; generating a target video file using the selected video frames; determining a target display position for the target video file in a video preview interface; and storing the correspondence between the target display position and the target video file so that a first terminal logging in the server plays the target video file at the target display position in the video preview interface based on the correspondence. As can be seen, since the first terminal plays the target video file at the target display position in the video preview interface, the user can get more information about the content of the video file to be released from the target video file, so that the user experience is improved.
