Abstract

An exhaust system () of an internal combustion engine, prior to a first heating-up of the exhaust system (), has a particle filter () and an exhaust line () upstream of the particle filter (). The exhaust system () has a carrier element () with ash-forming components or ash applied thereto. The carrier element () may be on a side of the particle filter () facing toward the exhaust line (). Alternatively, the exhaust system () may have a catalytic converter () upstream of the particle filter (), the carrier element () that with the ash-forming components or the ash may be applied to the catalytic converter ().
