Abstract
Provided is a liquid crystal display device wherein blurring of a moving image is effectively suppressed. A liquid crystal display deviceincludes a liquid crystal layerthat is arranged on a backlight, and includes liquid crystal that is driven in response to a voltage applied thereto; a light detection unitthat is arranged between the backlightand the liquid crystal layer; and a control unit that controls a timing of turning on the backlight. After the backlightis turned off and driving of liquid crystal is started, the control unit turns on the backlightwhen intensity of light detected by the light detection unitenters a steady state.
