Abstract

A touch panel has a first electrode layer positioned on a first surface of a transparent insulating member and a second electrode layer positioned on a second surface of the transparent insulating member. The first electrode layer is provided with a plurality of first strip electrodes, and the second electrode layer is provided with a plurality of second strip electrodes. There is at least one combination of the first strip electrode and the second strip electrode satisfying an electrode width Wof the first strip electrode<an electrode width Wof the second strip electrode in a main sensing region not including the first outermost strip electrodes and the second outermost strip electrodes in a region where the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer are provided.
