Abstract

An antimicrobial composition containing a diluent (e.g. water) and about 0.01 wt. % to about 90 wt. % of at least one compound according to Formula 1 wherein Ris a branched or unbranched, saturated or unsaturated, C3 to C5 N-alkyl-chain and the antimicrobial composition is substantially free of peroxygen compounds, antibiotics, and chloroacetamide. Methods of using the composition to reduce the microbial load on a surface are also provided, as is the use of the compound according to Formula 1 as an antimicrobial agent.
