Abstract
A vehicle control device includes a recognizer () that recognizes a situation near an own-vehicle, and a driving controller () that controls one or both of steering or acceleration/deceleration of the own-vehicle on the basis of a recognition result of the recognizer, wherein the driving controller does not perform determination of an operation mode of control of the acceleration/deceleration when the recognizer has recognized that an occupant is riding in the own-vehicle, and determines the operation mode of control of the acceleration/deceleration on the basis of a state of another vehicle present near the own-vehicle recognized by the recognizer when the recognizer has recognized that no occupant is riding in the own-vehicle.
