Abstract

The invention provides a large technological infrastructure to provide a unique comparison of athletic performance using a system. When a user traverses a route during a workout, the system can identify individual ones of a set of predetermined courses that are associated with the route. The system can include a unique point system and can compare aggregate athletic performances of different users across different geographical tracks or sections. Advantageously, people who cannot do the same course(s) can compete with one another; aggregate performances can be accumulated to give an overall performance metric; and people with differing abilities can compete with one another.
