Abstract
Embodiments herein relate to implantable multimode analyte sensors and medical devices including the same. In an embodiment, an implantable medical device is included having an optical excitation assembly, an optical detection assembly and a multimode sensing element. The multimode sensing element can include a colorimetric response element specific for a first chemical analyte and a photoluminescent response element specific for a second chemical analyte. Other embodiments are also included herein.
