Abstract
An organic toothpaste is a Pickering emulsion having a particle stabilizer bound in the interface between the continuous phase and dispersed phase of the emulsion. The particle stabilizer prevents the dispersed phase from coalescing and phase separating. The emulsion may include glycerin and water to form the emulsion and particles, such as erythritol and/or rice powder as the stabilizer. An organic toothpaste may be certified USDA organic and contain no more than 5% by weight of components list of allowed substances, found in the Electronic Code of Federal Regulations, Subpart G published on May 24, 2018. An organic toothpaste may include a foaming component such as saponin, soapbark, decyl glucoside or. In addition, an organic toothpaste may include a natural sweetener such as agave, xylitol or erythritol.
