Abstract

Provided is a carrier material and its use in animal litter, where the carrier material exhibits reduced dust formation during handling. The carrier material comprises: bentonite clay; and a dust suppression agent coated on the bentonite clay, wherein the dust suppression agent is one or more alkoxylate materials of formula (I): R—O-(AO)—H, wherein R is H, aryl (e.g., phenyl), or linear or branched C-Calkyl; AO at each occurrence is independently ethyleneoxy, propyleneoxy, butyleneoxy, or random or block mixtures thereof; and z represents average number of moles of AO and ranges from 1 to 80.
