Abstract

A node () of a communication network configures multiple IP addresses of the node (). Each of the multiple IP addresses are associated with a corresponding IP network () to which the node () is connected. Each of the these IP networks () is identified by a corresponding network identifier. In response to a request sent by the node (), the node receives connection information of a further node () of the communication network. The received connection information includes at least one network identifier and an associated IP address of the further node (). Based on the at least one network identifier, the node () selects one of the IP networks (). Via the selected IP network () and based on the associated IP address, the node () establishes an IP based connection to the further node ().
