Abstract

The present invention provides a method for producing a fluoride fluorescent material, comprising: contacting a fluoride particles represented by the following general formula (I):K[MMnF]  (I)wherein M is at least one member selected from the group consisting of elements belonging to Groups 4 and 14 of the Periodic Table, and a satisfies the relationship: 0<a<0.2; with a solution containing alkaline earth metal ions in the presence of a reducing agent to form an alkaline earth metal fluoride and less than tetravalent manganese ions on the surface of the fluoride particles.
