Set forth herein are systems and methods for determining when to heat a battery, and under what conditions to do so, The methods include using input parameters to predict when to heat a battery and how to heat that battery. For example, the methods predict when to heat a battery so that the battery has a specific power output and performance level when used in an electric or hybrid vehicle application.
