Abstract

The invention relates to a process for producing carbon fibers from cellulosic fibers, characterized in that cellulosic fibers, which contain a sulfonic acid salt of formula (I), wherein Rrepresents a hydrocarbon group and Krepresents a cation, are converted into carbon fibers.
