Abstract
The present disclosure provides a process for producing trifluoroiodomethane (CFI). The process includes providing vapor-phase reactants including trifluoroacetyl halide, hydrogen, and iodine, heating the vapor-phase reactants, and reacting the heated vapor-phase reactants in the presence of a catalyst to produce trifluoroiodomethane. The catalyst includes a transition metal.
