Abstract
A projection video display device includes a projection video display main body (main body) including a light source and a video display element and generating a video to be projected, a portrait converter that rotates the video generated by the main body around an optical axis by 90°, and a projection lens that magnifies and projects the video rotated by the portrait converter. The main body rotates directions of OSD (On Screen Display) images and in the video generated by the video display element to an opposite direction to or in the same direction as a rotation direction of the video by the portrait converter by 90°. Accordingly, the OSD image can be displayed in a direction in which it is easy for the user to see in portrait projection screens.
