Problem: To be able to reduce manufacturing cost and achieve downsizing of an apparatus. Solution: An image forming apparatusincludes a CPU (), an image former (), and a display panel. The display panelserves as a display portionwhich displays an image, an image readerwhich reads a document placed on a display surface, and an operation portionwhich receives an input operation by a user. The CPU () detects a document area where the document exists on the display surface of the display panel, and causes the operation portionto be displayed at a position according to the detected document area on the display panel
