Abstract

One example antenna apparatus includes S groups of antenna bays, S groups of phase-shift feeding networks, and S beamforming networks. An igroup of antenna bays include Nbays, an igroup of phase-shift feeding networks include Nphase-shift feeding networks, and the Nbays are connected to the Nphase-shift feeding networks. In a first state, an ibeamforming network is configured to form nbeams corresponding to the Nbays, where Nfirst ports corresponding to the beamforming network are connected to the Nphase-shift feeding networks, nsecond ports corresponding to the beamforming network are connected to nantenna ports, and nis less than N. In a second state, an ibeamforming network is configured to form Nbeams corresponding to the Nbays, where Nfirst ports corresponding to the beamforming network are connected to the Nphase-shift feeding networks, and Nsecond ports corresponding to the beamforming network are connected to Nantenna ports.
