Abstract
A blade element () for a refiner for refining fibrous material comprises a refining surface () provided with blade bars () and blade grooves () there-between. The blade bars () have side walls ('″) facing away from one another. The side walls (′″) of the at least one blade bar () comprise on both of its side walls (′″) steps (′″) which extend at least partly in the transversal direction relative to the side walls (′″) of the blade bar () and away from one another.
