Abstract

Compositions which comprise a gold nanoparticle, dithiolated diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (DTDTPA), and a thioctic acid terminated peptide, wherein the DTDTPA is directly linked to the gold nanoparticle surface via an Au—S bond, and wherein the thioctic acid terminated peptide is directly linked to the gold nanoparticle surface via an Au—S bond.
