Abstract
A conveying device () has conveying carts () arranged one behind another and spaced apart by an interspace (). One conveying cart () has a cover () and another has a cross-belt conveyor () for conveying material transverse to the conveying direction. The cover () covers the interspace () between the conveying carts () so that the cover () of the one conveying cart () is under the upper run () of the transverse belt () of the other conveying cart (). When negotiating curves, the cover () engages between an underside () of the upper run () and a first support plane () to hinder the transverse belt () from moving in the transverse conveying direction. When travelling straight ahead the cover () engages between the first support plane () and a second support plane () to permit movement of the transverse belt () in the transverse conveying direction.
