Abstract

Articles having mechanically strengthened seams () and methods of making the same are provided. An article includes at least one material sheet () and a seam () formed from an overlap of two portions () of the at least one material sheet () and an adhesive () deposited between the two portions () of the at least one material sheet () along at least a portion of the overlap, the adhesive () sealing the two portions () of the at least one material sheet (), wherein at least one of the two portions () of the material sheet () comprises a plurality of indents () on a surface thereof, such that the adhesive () penetrates the material sheet () at the indents () to provide a mechanical bond between the two portions () of the at least one material sheet ().
