Abstract
A transverse member () for a drive belt for a continuously variable transmission with a base part () and two pillar parts (). On either side thereof, the transverse member is provided with a pulley contact surface () for contacting pulleys of the transmission. The pulley contact surfaces () are each provided in two sections () with a surface part () of the transverse member () provided there between that does not arrive in contact with the transmission pulleys, whereof a first section () is provided at least partly in the base part () and whereof a second section () is wholly provided in a respective pillar part ().
