Abstract

There is provided a sewing machine needleincluding: a shank portionthat is attached to a sewing machine; and a shaft portionthat is provided on a front end side of the shank portion; wherein: a needle eyeis formed to penetrate the shaft portion, and a long groovefor guiding a thread from a position of the needle eyetoward the shank portionis formed in the shaft portion; and a suppression portionfor suppressing movement of a needle threadis provided in an intermediate portion of the long groove. Thus, it is possible to provide a sewing machine needle by which a loop can be formed stably and that causes few damage to a needle thread and can be also manufactured easily.
