Abstract

A composition comprising a compound mixture dissolved in water, the compound mixture comprising at least one chlorite salt at least one cyclodextrin; and at least one alkaline base; provided that the cyclodextrin is in an amount of 0.13 to 13 parts by mass for every 50 parts by mass of chlorite anion ClO, and the alkaline base is in an amount of up to 13 parts by mass for every 50 parts by mass of chlorite anion ClO; wherein the composition has a pH of at least 12.5. A process for forming the composition and process for treating suspensions of particles with the composition are also disclosed.
