Abstract

The present application relates to steam iron () comprising a soleplate (), a discharge element (), a retaining member () and a collection compartment (). The soleplate () comprises a steam chamber () for generating steam. The steam chamber () comprising an opening (A) arranged at a rear end (R) of the soleplate (). The discharge element () extends from the opening (A). The collection compartment () is formed in the discharge element () for collecting calcified deposits (S) formed in the steam chamber (). The retaining member () is arranged in the discharge element (). T retaining member () extends over a front end portion (P) of the collection compartment () to retain the calcified deposits (S) in the collection comportment (). This invention prevents the calcified deposits from escaping from the collection compartment when the steam iron is tilted.
