An elevator car () comprising a passenger compartment defining an interior space () surrounded by sidewalls () and at least one car door; and at least one lighting arrangement () configured to illuminate the interior space (). Said lighting arrangement () is associated with a ventilation system () configured to ventilate the interior space () even in a situation where the car door is closed.
