Abstract
A component () for a motor vehicle has a main body () produced from a magnesium material. The main body () has a visible surface () with an arithmetic mean roughness Ra of 1 to 40 μm. A clear lacquer coating () is disposed on the visible surface () of the main body () and has a layer thickness of at most 60 μm. The clear lacquer coating () is applied so that the surface structure () of the main body () that is disposed below the clear lacquer coating () is distinguishable in a visible and haptic manner.
