Abstract
A method of determining the minimum radius and the mounting distance of a worm gear member () of a worm drive (). The root portion () of a tooth slot () is probed at a plurality of points along the length of the root and the locations of the points are utilized as the basis for determining the minimum radius and the mounting distance.
