Abstract
A secondary battery includes: an electrode assembly including a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate; an exterior housing that has an opening and houses the electrode assembly; and a sealing plate () that seals the opening. The exterior housing and the sealing plate () form a battery case. A deformable member () that deforms when the pressure inside the battery case reaches a prescribed value or higher and a gas release valve () that breaks when the pressure inside the battery case reaches a prescribed value or higher to release gas inside the battery case to the outside of the battery case are provided in the sealing plate (). A metallic reinforcing member () is connected to the inner surface of the sealing plate ().
